It is the most traded glycol type in the world. MEG is the main product of the Ethylene Glycol / Ethylene Oxide industry and the smallest of the glycols. Mono Ethylene Glycol has high boiling point, low freezing point and it is a non-corrosive compound.

HANDLING
MEG is not flammable, unless preheated.
- Wear personal protective equipment.
- Avoid contact with skin and eyes.
- Avoid inhaling vapours or spray mists.
- Always wash hands before smoking, eating, drinking or using the toilet.
- Wash contaminated clothing and other protective equipment before storage or re-use.
- When handling product in drums, safety footwear should be worn and proper handling equipment should be used.
- No special protective measures against fire required.
SAFE STORAGE (Requirements for storage areas and containers)
- Keep tightly closed. Check regularly for leaks. Keep containers closed when not in use.
- Do not pressurize drum containers to empty.
- Keep in a dry place.
- Use local exhaust ventilation.
- Protect from frost, heat and sunlight.
- Storage temperature: Ambient (should not exceed 60 *C)
- Store away from oxidizing agents and foodstuffs.
- Tanks must be clean, dry and rust-free.
- Drums should be stacked to a maximum of 3 high.
- Unsuitable container material: Zinc
- Suitable container material: Stainless steel., Mild steel., Carbon steel
- Chemical incompatibility with strong oxidizing agents, strong acids and bases, perchloric acid, chromyl chloride.
- Containers, even those that have been emptied, can contain explosive vapours. Do not cut, drill, grind, weld or perform similar operations on or near containers.
DISPOSAL CONSIDERATIONS
- Avoid subsoil penetration.
- Do not flush into surface water or sanitary sewer system.
