Isobutyl acetate is produced by esterification process of isobutanol with acetic acid. In order to prepare isobutyl acetate by applying Fischer esterification method, precursors isobutyl alcohol and acetic acid are heated in the presence of strong acid.

HANDLING

- Only handle and refill product in closed systems.
- Keep away from heat, direct sunlight, open flames, and hot surfaces. Store in a cool location.
- Protect against electrostatic charges.
- Fumes can combine with air to form an explosive mixture.
- Keep away from incompatibles such as oxidizing agents, metals, acids.
- Incompatible materials: Strong oxidizers (e.g. Chlorine, Peroxides, etc.).; Strong acids, Potassium tert-butoxide. Attacks some elastomers, rubber, plastic and coatings.
- Provide solvent resistant, sealed floor.
- Flammable materials should be stored in a separate safety storage cabinet or room.
- A refrigerated room would be preferable for materials with a flash point lower than 37.8°C (100°F).
- Storage area should be clearly identified, clear of obstruction and accessible only to trained and authorized personnel.
DISPOSAL CONSIDERATIONS

- Do not allow product to reach sewage system.
